It lives!
So my camera didn’t die after all, it only needed a day’s rest. I hesitantly decided to try switching it on this morning and to my great surprise it turned on just fine! It seemed slightly confused as it asked for all the ‘first time’ stuff such as time and date settings etc. but apart from that (and a slight odour of vodka) it seemed fine. I’m happy. The zoom is a little retarded or at least sticky if you will. But at least I can take pictures with it! To celebrate I went out andbought it a gorgeous leather case. Yey!

..again
Someone found it convenient to drown my new camera in alcohol tonight. And then not tell me. Not Happy Jan. Actually quite sad… I can’t afford another new camera!

That will teach me…
So I’ve been quite cocky regarding the pandemic, going on and on about how I’ve most likely already been exposed and didn’t catch it so I’m definitely not going to become ill now. Well. I have to eat my words as I am currently in bed for the sixth consecutive day with flu-like symptoms: fever, muscle aches (my skin hurts!) and extreme fatigue. I’ve no way of knowing for sure if I have it as doctors want you nowhere near their offices if you think you might have the swine flu… So I’m just stuck at home for the prescribed seven days and I am going stir crazy to the extreme! I’ve no energy to really do anything and I can’t go out and see my friends. I can’t even allow them to come over as that would mean exposing them to the illness. It sucks!
But I’m not too ill to watch tv (or stream tv shows online as I had to get rind of my tv in favour of a new bookcase a few months ago…) and I’ve now gone through all of Hell’s Kitchen, The F Word and Kitchen Nightmares. For the third time. Yep. But it’s still fun and it still leaves me veritably itching to get back in the kitchen. I’ve really no energy for cooking but the other day I felt better and I made a lovely and extremely simple spaghetti with wild mushrooms and black truffle oil. it was absolutely delicious! Also I’ve got some food left from before I became ill which I made following my dinner with Cecilie’s parents at D/S Louise, where Cecile and I shared an appetizer of Skagen salad and caplin caviar. I absolutely loved it and hurried to recreate it at home. Of course I’m too ill to make delicate little hors d’æuvres so I just had it as a sandwich. But it still tasted fantastic. Am planning to make it tomorrow (the proper, delicate version!) for Johanne’s birthday dinner (if my temperature is down to normal that is!) I’m so so so excited!
So now all I have to do is get well by tomorrow. Because there’s no way I’m missing out on one of my dearest friends’ thirtieth birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY DARLING!!!

Football
I’m not a huge football fan (although I think I understand the offside rule) but last night in the completely packed beer tent when Norway scored once, then twice and the whole place erupted in cheers and the guy in a kilt slunk off to get another pint… well it was fantastic! Unfortunately I had to leave before the end but as I walked away I heard such massive cheers that I swear the tent lifted, and I knew we’d scored another goal. And obviusly there was yet another before the match was over. I must (rather shamefacedly) admit that I am proud of our boys.

End of Summer
Summer is officially over. Yesterday was the matriculation ceremony downtown and I worked the information/registration booth for the international buddy groups with Todd and a couple of nerds.
It was easy work, just look up people in a folder, give them a number and point them in the right direction. Two hours, then done. Sit and watch the ceremony. This year there were so many new students that they didn’t all fit in the square.
Notice the guy wearing camo but no shoes…
Got home and started preparing for my date. Cleaned the house and got started on dinner whilst enjoying a glass of chef’s juice (red wine) and suddenly noticed the rain storm outside
there was even a stunning, double rainbow! (it actually continued right down the front of that building but I’m not really sure if it shows in the picture or maybe I’m just imagining it since I saw it last night.
Went to uni today to register my desk at the library for another semester, and the beer tent is UP. I’ll be there in, oh, an hour’s time?
XOXO

Biter of Stone!
Ica has a special on catfish this week and of course I jumped on it. In both Norway and Denmark this fish is known as Steinbit(er), referring to its massive jaws that look as if they can bite through stone. This fish is usually out of my price range so it’s no wonder I do a little happy-dance (finger-pointing included of course) when I happen upon a special.
I am going to serve it up to Nils when he returns from Stavanger tomorrow night. I’ve already prepared the salsa verde and am planning to make a warm potato salad to go with the grilled Stone Biter fillets. Jealous, anyone?
